The Calera Presbyterian Church is the oldest church building in the City of Calera, and one few remaining structures that date from the early town history. Now on the Historical Register, the church was donated to the city a few years ago.  A Presbyterian congregation was first organized in 1872, and the church building was completed and occupied in 1885. Its original location was the corner of present day Highways 25 and 31, now the site of Calera High School.

In 1885 the church had a membership of 60 which later declined, and by 1918 only 5 members remained. The church building, which at times has been unused, has, on occasion, been occupied by other denominations and also by the school. In 1929 it was moved across the block to its present location at the corner of Twentieth Avenue and Fourteenth Street. It is adjacent to Akridge Arboretum and the Senior Citizens' Center.

To schedule or to make a tax deductible donation towards its maintenance and further development, contact the Akridge Arboretum Society at (205) 668-2081, P.O. Box 1303, Calera, Alabama 35040, or Linda Steele, Calera City Clerk, at (205) 668- 3500, 10947 Hwy 25, Calera. Alabama 35040.
