Responsibilities
The City of Calera Building Inspections Department is established to ensure the safeguarding of the citizens of Calera regarding public health, safety, and general welfare through aggressive implementation and enforcement of the codes adopted by the city encompassing hazards that may be imposed on the built environment.
The Building Inspections Department’s responsibilities include overseeing the building permit process for all construction, from new to renovations, within the jurisdiction of the City of Calera, both residential and commercial. Safety is a paramount issue with the department while performing the prescriptive tasks of inspections.
Staff
In order to facilitate the functions of the Building Inspections Department, a staff of highly trained individuals is tasked with this endeavor. The department currently consists of four staff members, which includes the building official, one building / plumbing / electrical inspector, one building / framing / HVAC inspector, and one inspection clerk.
